ERNW Catalyst Funding increased

The Catalyst Fund is for the development of collaboration with other researchers in Wales, arranging meetings for a future funding bid or a Horizon Europe grant.

Apply now for up to £3000

The Fund is available to researchers in engineering and science in any Welsh University. You can now apply for up to £3000 towards the organisation of meetings arranged to enable collaboration with other Universities and organisations on a potential research topic related to the Network. The funding is also available for meetings with European collaborators for potential Horizon Europe projects.

Welsh Digital Twin Network (WDTN) Conference
Tuesday 6 and Wednesday 7 July 2022: Metropole Hotel, Llandrindod Wells
The Network, lead by Prof Nithiarasu, Associate Dean-Research, Innovation and Impact at Swansea University is hosting this conference with the aim of identifying the breadth of expertise in this area within Wales. The WDTN will coalesce expertise from across Wales, bringing together technologies and accelerating digital twin capability in order to support translation into real world applications within the region and beyond.

MADE Cymru Industry Summit

21 – 23 June 2022: Online, UWTSD Swansea and AMRC Cymru, Flintshire
Celebrating Manufacturing in Wales: MADE Cymru and University of Wales Trinity Saint David are organising a series of online and in-person events to inform, engage and inspire businesses during this period of post-Covid recovery. All the events are led by key industry speakers and are free to attend. The in-person events are being held at UWTSD, Swansea and AMRC Cymru, Flintshire.

SUSTAIN Second Call for Feasibility Studies
The SUSTAIN Future Steel Manufacturing Hub is offering funding for feasibility studies to conduct novel research which aligns with the Hub’s two Grand Challenges: Carbon Neutral Iron and Steelmaking and Smart Steel Processing.

This provide an opportunity for new partners to join the project which have potential to lead to further collaborations and future funding bids. There is funding for up to three feasibility studies, with a maximum duration of six months, and a maximum value of £50,000 (80% FEC). The closing date for applications is Friday 29 July 2022.


Royal Academy of Engineering Fellowships
The RAEng currently have a range of Fellowship opportunities – 
Research Chairs and Senior Research Fellowships – to strengthen the links between industry and academia by supporting exceptional academics in UK universities to undertake use-inspired research that meets the needs of the industrial partners.
Research Fellowships – for early-career researchers to support them to become future research leaders in engineering.
Industrial Fellowships – enables mid-career academics and industrialists to undertake a collaborative research project in either an industrial or academic environment, where one party would host the other providing an opportunity to establish or enhance collaborative research.


 

The Engineering Research Network Wales is a pan-Wales initiative focused on Advanced Engineering and Materials and anchored by our core academic partners within the Engineering Colleges at AberystwythBangorCardiff MetropolitanCardiffSwanseaSouth WalesUWTSD and Wrexham Glyndwr Universities and our industrial partner, TWI Ltd.
